Most medications would be useless to us if we did not have the label. The label contains the warnings and directions on how much and what to take the medication with. Recently, I had an eventful experience with a bad case of labeling.
I took some Mucinex DM the other night to help with a cough. The label has no warnings about taking it with certain foods and drinks, yet it contains the drug dextromethorphin which is highly reactive and produces extreme adverse reactions with grapefruit and limes.
I drank two lime waters and a bowl of lime chips that night. After I went to bed, I fell right asleep, which usually never happens. The next thing I know I am in the bathroom looking in the mirror. My pupils were as big as my iris and I felt uneasy. I began expereincing hallucinations, paranoia, dementia, nausea, and body shakes for the next 12 hours. It was a terrible experience which should have never happened and would not have if the medication was labeled properly.
